“Godfather of Harlem” actor Forest Whitaker is mourning the passing of his former-wife Keisha Nash. While shooting the 1994 film “Blown Away,” Whitaker and Nash, who portrayed onscreen lovers, struck up a friendship that soon took a romantic turn.
In 1996, the couple married in a beautiful Jamaican ceremony. Together, Whitaker and Nash welcomed 2 daughters, Sonnet and True. Including their kids together, Whitaker is dad to son Ocean, while Nash is mother to daughter Autumn, both from previous connections.
Though not much was known about the couple’s wedding, Whitaker once opened up about his and Nash’s different approaches to parenting. “They come to me when they’re trying to slip something by,” he mentioned to Parade at the time.
“I have to always take a pause when they come and say, ‘Hey dad, is it okay if we do this? So I just look at them, like, ‘Have you talked to your mom about that?’ They know I’m the easy one.”
Sorrowfully, after 22 years together, Whitaker and Nash’s wedding came crumbling with “The Color of Money” star filing for divorce in 2018 and citing irreconcilable variance as the reason for their separation.
But while their wedding might have ended long ago, there is no way that Whitaker is just as heartbroken about Nash’s unpredictable death.
On December 7, True Whitaker confirmed the death of her mom, Keisha Nash. Taking to Instagram, True shared a few of Nash’s photos and a heartwarming tribute to her mother’s memory.
“Goodbye mommy. I love you 4ever and beyond,” True wrote on her Instagram Stories. “The most beautiful woman in the world … thank you for teaching me every single stuff I know. I’ll see you in my dreams and I’ll feel you in my heart.” While writing, a cause of death is yet to be announced. Forest Whitaker, as well as Nash’s other kids, have also not reacted to the devastating news.
