Russell Wilson revealed about taking on the responsibility of parenting his stepson.
In an interview on the recent episode of the “I AM ATHLETE” podcast, Wilson said God told him little Future Zahir was going to be his “responsibility” the day he encounter him.
Future Zahir, 9, is Ciara Wilson’s son by rapper Future Hendrix. Ciara and Future were engaged to be married when he left her stranded at the altar.
But she rebounded quickly with Russell. After a brief courtship, they were tied knot on July 6, 2016, at a castle in Cheshire, England.
Russell and little Future have grown very close, but the Denver Broncos quarterback faced criticism for his bond with another man’s son.
Russell told he prayed for a woman like Ciara, “a woman of faith,” as well as a woman who was faithful in general, who would “tilt the room” when she walked in.
So I prayed about that … I literally wrote it out on a napkin at dinner,” he described. “Three days later I meet Cee. And when I walked in the room and saw, you know, little Future, who was nine months [old] at the time or whatever, he crawls in my lap, it was like, ‘This is going to be my responsibility.’”
He continued: “I remember leaving that night and God saying to me, ‘Raising this child it’s gonna be your responsibility,’” Wilson remembered. “And realizing that, I’m praying to God, ‘Are you sure this is what you want me to do?’ He’s saying, ‘Son this is for you.’ The first night. This is gonna be your responsibility.” Ciara, 38, and Russell, 35, share three children, daughter Sienna Princess, 6, son Win, 3, and baby daughter Amora, born in December 2023.
